Spring has Sprung!

Its official Charleston...spring has sprung!! And something that Charlestonians love is the beach. Recently I have noticed a lot of people have said they want to either lose weight or tone their body for beach season. Now I'm not a gym guru but I do frequent the gym mainly to keep my body toned since I am an aspiring model. So with the recent posts that I have seen lately I came up with what I think are the 3 most important things that you can do to lose weight or tone.

1. Drink water!
Yes we love soda an but lets be honest..its a lot of empty calories. Oh and juice is good too, but the next time you drink juice take a look at the sugar and calorie content. Its not worth it. Water is so much more refreshing. It'll leave your skin glowing and it keeps your insides clean too. It also amazing the couple of pounds you can shed just by drinking water daily. Water...its just plain good for you!

2. Exercise daily!
Now I understand not everybody likes the gym, but come on there is no excuse for being lazy, Get up and do something...anything. Walk around your neighborhood. There are plenty of abs exercises that you can do at home. There are times when I don't go to the gym but to get at least a mini workout in I do a kettlebell workout, squats, planks, and ab exercises. Also working out is a good feeling of accomplishment!

3. Be consistent!
Be consistent with drinking water and exercising. You can just do it once a week or whenever you feel like it and expect results. Do it everyday and you will see results!!

A Year's Time..

Its crazy how things can change in a year's time. Around this time last year I went through a bad breakup. As any normal person that goes through a bad breakup I kind of had a mini breakdown. Days of crying and thinking what I did wrong, after a about a week I decided sadness would get you know where in life.

It has ALWAYS been a dream of mine to be an actress/model, but I never really knew how to get started on this dream of mine. After my mini breakdown I made the decision to go for my dream. I would no longer wish and want, but I would make my dream happen. I reached out to an old friend who is a photographer, Meggen Marr, and told her I wanted to set something up so that I could start a portfolio.

First photoshoot
So finally in May 2013 we set something up and went downtown in Charleston and went to streets and different scenic areas and she took my pictures. It was my first "photoshoot" so I didn't really have a sense of direction of where I wanted to go, but a start was better than nothing. Meggen did instruct me on what I should do with my body and different poses that would look good on camera. I am very grateful for her help. And that was the beginning! Since then I have been having photoshoots throughout the last year and I have been improving on the quality of my posing. Of course there is still more to learn and I can't wait to learn more.

Most recent photoshoot

It wasn't until February 2014 when I got the chance to really take this thing to next step. I auditioned for a spot to compete at the IMTA 2014 (International Models and Talent Association) in New York. At the convention I will be able to showcase my talents in front of hundreds of agents, mangers, and casting directors. It will be a great opportunity for me and I am ecstatic that I have been given this chance to make my dreams come true. Over the next 4 months I will be working hard and training to better my skills.

So...its crazy how much can change in a year. Of the changes that I went through in the past year. I am excited to see what other changes and what is in the store for me for another year!

think about it

Another year has gone by and we have we made goals for ourselves. I feel the number one goal we create for ourselves is to fulfill what we want to be or what we want to do in life. A good friend and I had a conversation about what we want to do in life, a question that I noticed I frequently ask myself, a question a twenty something year old will constantly ask themselves.

Throughout a majority of your life you might ask yourself this question. What do I want to do in life? What do I want to be? The thing is somewhere along the line of life we got this idea that we were made for one thing, when in reality we have the resources to be anything we want to be. Who told us we were subject to one career or one passion for our whole life?

Life should be a journey of experiences of doing everything and anything you want. If its your passion, your dream, then go for it. Corny, but there will come a time in your life when your life when you realize that you only have one life and that you deserve to live it to the fullest.
